SEDALIA — Former Avalanche great Peter Forsberg attended a wedding in Philadelphia this week and was scheduled to begin a Mexican vacation Thursday before hearing about Joe Sakic‘s 22nd annual celebrity golf classic to benefit the Food Bank of the Rockies.
Forsberg changed his plans, flew to Denver and became the second Hockey Hall of Fame golfer Thursday at Sanctuary Golf Course.
“Worked out great,” said Forsberg, who was prepared to play in Sakic’s foursome. “I really wanted to see if he’s improved his game.”
Forsberg, 46, already knows how Sakic, the Avalanche’s general manager who turned 50 last month, has improved his NHL club.
