Patrick Roy to face old team Montreal for sixth time as Avs coach

For the sixth time as the Avalanche's head coach, Patrick Roy Wednesday at the Pepsi Center will be going against the other franchise that has placed his number in the rafters.

With Roy behind the Colorado bench, the Avalanche is 2-3 against the Canadiens, and one of the victories was an early-season 6-1 rout at Montreal on Nov. 14.

The Avalanche didn't practice Monday, the day after a 4-1 matinee loss at Buffalo.

When the Canadiens rehired Michel Therrien for a second stint as head coach in June 2012, Roy — then the general manager-coach of major junior's Quebec Remparts — also was interviewed.
