Notre Dame’s Cam Morrison still proud to be Avalanche prospect

CHICAGO — Notre Dame freshman forward Cam Morrison, 18, is the youngest player at the NCAA Frozen Four and another bright prospect for the Avalanche, which selected him in the second round (40th overall) of the 2016 draft.

I met with Morrison after the Fighting Irish’s practice Wednesday at the United Center. Notre Dame plays the top-seeded Denver Pioneers in a national semifinal Thursday night at the Chicago Blackhawks’ arena.

Morrison, from Aurora, Ontario, is the Irish’s fifth-leading scorer with 23 points (11 goals) in 39 games. He’s playing on the top line with juniors Anders Bjork and Jake Evans.
