Quebec City and Las Vegas are now in the third stage of the NHL expansion process — whatever that means — and it looks like these two cities will get teams as early as 2017. With it will come new discussion on possible ways of realigning the league. Quebec City would be another Eastern team for a conference that already features 16 teams — as opposed to the West’s 14 — which will affect the Colorado Avalanche and all other teams.
Uneven conferences, like we have them right now, are garbage, to say the least.
