Morning Flurries: San Jose fires head coach Peter DeBoer

Mikko Rantanen scored twice last night to lead the Colorado Avalanche past the Philadelphia Flyers 3-1. Matt Calvert scored to open the game, and the Avs never trailed as they received assists from six different skaters. The winning streak started again last night.

The Avs are off tonight, but will host the New Jersey Devils on Friday night. Let the Taylor Hall rumors fly.

Before last night’s game, Sergeant Karissa Tanguay-Jones surprised her father as he was being interviewed. They hadn’t seen each other in more than a year, and enjoyed a long embrace as the crowd cheered and applauded.
