The Colorado Avalanche started off so strong!
The club flew into their Saturday night game fresh off the heels of an intense 6-1 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Thursday, which came complete with an absolutely filthy set of goals by none other than Nathan MacKinnon.
They seemed to be on the right track when they scored twice in the opening 20 minutes, then allowed just one goal in the second period to maintain a lead nearly through to the bitter end.
In the final two minutes of third period, though, Elias Lindholm came rushing in unassisted, and the game was tied — then just 46 seconds into extra minutes, Johnny Gaudreau capitalized on a breakaway to hand Colorado their first overtime loss of the season.
