But the Pepsi Center sounded as if could be in Western Pennsylvania at times Wednesday night, with the Pittsburgh Penguins in town to face the Avalanche and drawing many transplant fans to the building.
It seemed to almost — almost — rival the level of cheering for visiting teams when the Chicago Blackhawks or Detroit Red Wings play in Denver.
They ultimately had plenty to cheer about as the Penguins, after trailing 2-1 entering the third period, roared back on two goals from former University of Denver standout Beau Bennett and one from defenseman Olli Maatta and knocked off the collapsing Avalanche 4-2.
