ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Mikko Rantanen has a message for young hockey players who continue to skate on a sore ankle: Don’t do it — unless it’s the playoffs.
Monday morning, for the first time since sustaining a gruesome-looking ankle injury Oct. 21, Rantanen was back on the Enterprise Center ice in the Avalanche’s pregame skate.
This wasn’t an “event” because Rantanen now knows that his giant toe-pick against the Blues was a serious injury waiting to happen.
“It was kind of sore before, already, so when I was playing that day and the last couple days, I was kind of scared of it.
