The Avalanche are going to have to try to keep flying without Mikko Rantanen.
The Central-leading Avs (7-1-1) will be without their 22-year-old right-winger, who is out “week-to-week,” coach Jared Bednar announced today.
The Finland native, who suffered a gruesome lower-body injury at St. Louis on Monday, didn’t skate at Wednesday morning’s practice. Rantanen reportedly received an MRI on Tuesday and began the week listed as day-to-day. Colorado visits Vegas on Friday for a 4 p.m. puck drop.
The Avs also practiced without wingers J.T. Compher and Pierre-Edouard Bellemare and defenseman Ian Cole.
