WINNIPEG, Manitoba—It wasn't pretty, but it rarely is versus the Winnipeg Jets.
The Colorado Avalanche grinded out a win in front of a sold-out MTS Centre, playing solid defensively, working hard offensively and scoring a couple ugly ones in a 4-1 victory over the Jets on Monday night.
Leading the charge was the Avs' resident gritty forward in Cody McLeod. A Manitoba native, McLeod had a fight, three shots and tallied the go-ahead goal early in the third period. He almost had has first career Gordie Howe hat trick as well. The initial scoring on Blake Comeau's empty-netter gave McLeod an assist, but after review, the off-ice officials determined Francois Beauchemin touched the puck and earned the secondary assist.
