WINNIPEG, manitoba — Joe Sakic and Milan Hejduk are the last Avalanche players to score 30 goals in the season, both doing it for the final time as teammates in 2006-07. Nine years later, Matt Duchene finds himself at the doorstep.

The 25-year-old center has a career-high 29 goals, getting his latest one Saturday night in a 3-2 loss to the Winnipeg Jets. Duchene made it 2-0 at the MTS Centre before the Avs imploded and blew a third- period lead for the sixth time this season.

Afterward, Duchene wasn't keen on talking about individual accomplishments. The Avs, who were off Sunday, are tied with Minnesota for the eighth and final Western Conference playoff slot.
