Colorado Avalanche forward Matt Calvert has announced his retirement from the NHL after 10 seasons and 566 games. The 31-year-old was limited to 18 games last season with the Avalanche due to complications from post-concussion syndrome.
After spending most of his career playing for the Columbus Blue Jackets, Calvert signed with the Avalanche as a free agent in the summer of 2018. He retires having scored 95 goals and recording 203 regular season points in the NHL.
Drafted 127th overall in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft, Calvert was a hard-forechecking winger that built his game around a non-stop motor and agitating grit.
