With the postponement of this year’s Winter Classic to 2022, the last outdoor game for the NHL was way back in February of last year - which seems like decades ago - between the Los Angeles Kings and Colorado Avalanche in Colorado Springs at the Air Force Stadium. For the fans attending the game, this was a drub: muddy parking lots, not a lot of bathrooms, long lines everywhere, no good ways in or through the stadium, and traffic was a nightmare. Obviously, the NHL got everything they wanted out of it: ticket revenue, promotions, and large TV audiences for the first game at a military site.
