Still don’t believe these Avs are different? That they’re cooking up something special?

Believe the defending Stanley Cup champs.

“I think they’ve always had pace and skill,” Tampa Bay defenseman Ryan McDonagh told The Post after the Avalanche topped his Lightning, 3-2, Thursday night to kick off the second half of the NHL’s regular season.

“And (now) you can see them just doing the little things: blocking shots, staying in structure, limiting odd-man (rushes) against. And that’s what translates to winning games.”

“They’re definitely sacrificing,” McDonagh continued, “and paying a price.
