Avalanche center J.T. Compher had two points, including the game-winning goal, in a tightly contested game against the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday night at the Pepsi Center.
Compher scored his 10th goal of the season 11:54 into the third period off the hard work of linemates Joonas Donskoi and Tyson Jost, and Colorado went on to win 3-2 to extend its winning streak to four games and leapfrog Dallas for second place in the Central Division and the Western Conference.
Rookie forward Martin Kaut scored the Avs’ second goal for his first career tally, and fellow Czech Republic native Pavel Francouz was again strong in net in his fifth straight start.
