Nine hours before his 1,123rd career regular season game, new Avalanche center Andrew Cogliano was the first skater on the ice this morning, which signaled his excitement about joining a Stanley Cup contender, his usual routine or maybe both.
Cogliano, 34, acquired from San Jose on Monday, arrived in the Denver area Tuesday and will be in the lineup for tonight’s game against Vancouver.
Leading up to the deadline, Cogliano said the Sharks kept him in the loop about which teams were interested.
“They mentioned Colorado and from my perspective, that was basically the best option I think in terms of fit and opportunity,” he said.
