Jarome Iginla plans to return next season

DALLAS — At age 38, Avalanche winger Jarome Iginla went into Thursday night's game against the Stars with 21 goals, including 13 on the power play. That's his lowest total in a full NHL season since he scored 13 goals with the Calgary Flames in 1997-98, his second season in the league.

His career total of 610 goals left him tied with Bobby Hull for 16th place in NHL history, 15 goals behind the next-best guy on the list — Joe Sakic.

Iginla, who scored 29 goals with Colorado last season, has one year remaining on the three-year contract he signed with the Avalanche as an unrestricted free agent in 2014, and is scheduled to make $5.
