The Avalanche’s coaching staff could be completely overhauled or just tweaked at the top. New head coach Jared Bednar might keep Patrick Roy’s support staff or bring in his own crew.
Avs general manager Joe Sakic said Thursday that Roy’s assistant coaches Tim Army, Dave Farrish and Nolan Pratt are still employed by the team, and goaltending coach Francois Allaire and video coach Brett Heimlich are still listed as employees on the team website. Pratt, a former Avalanche defenseman, was one of Bednar’s assistants last season with the American Hockey League’s Cleveland Monsters and was hired by Colorado last month.
