Spotlight on: Matthew Tkachuk
The Flames’ 19-year-old forward has played in 32-of-36 games and is sixth in NHL rookie scoring. Tkachuk, the son of former NHL standout Keith Tkachuk, was drafted sixth overall in June by Calgary after producing 107 points in 57 games for the Ontario Hockey League’s London Knights last season. Matthew was born in Scottsdale, Ariz., and mostly raised in the St. Louis area. He played for the U.S. National Development Program before choosing the major junior route. If he weren’t playing for the Flames, he would be a member of the U.
