The Czech Republic Men’s National Team announced on Monday that Colorado Avalanche defenseman Jan Hejda will be an alternate captain at the 2015 IIHF World Championship.

Hejda joins fellow nationals Jakub Voracek (captain) and Jaromir Jagr (alternate) as the club’s leadership core for the tournament.
The 36-year-old Avs veteran was officially named to the team on Friday as part of an extended roster announcement that included Voracek (Philadelphia Flyers) and Jagr (Florida Panthers), as well as other NHL notables, including Ondrej Pavelec (Winnipeg Jets), Tomas Hertl (San Jose Sharks) and Martin Erat (Arizona Coyotes).
