TORONTO — The above amateur video was the first “drill” to begin the Avalanche’s Monday’s practice at the Air Canada Centre. If you look closely, the guys are playing with different hands — righties are lefties, lefties are righties — and all 23 players are involved.
Near the end, you can hear Cody McLeod say, “If you ain’t cheating, you ain’t trying.” Which reminds me of our Denver-based NASCAR team, Furniture Row Racing and driver Martin Truex Jr. Holy smokes, folks, these guys will race for the Sprint Cup championship Sunday outside of Miami. Really remarkable story, given that the ONLY team outside North Carolina could becoming the first single-car team to win the title since Alan Kulwicki in 1992.
