Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog got ejected from the Boston Bruins game for an illegal check to the head.
The NHL has taken a hard stance on hits to the head, as well it should. Each team now employs a concussion spotter whose sole job is to watch players for signs of concussions during the game. Even prior to this season, team doctors followed a concussion protocol. (Read more here.)
Concussions have horrible repercussions for players. No more do we just laugh that a player “got his bell rung.” Rather, we watch squeamishly as players such as Colorado Avalanche prospect Joey Hishon see his career set back by horrible concussions.
