Avalanche captain Gabe Landeskog on Wednesday was named to Team Sweden's preliminary roster for the World Cup of Hockey in Toronto this fall in Toronto. Landeskog, 23, is the second Avs player to make a World Cup roster, joining goalie Semyon Varlamov of Russia.

Colorado center Nathan MacKinnon is expected to be named to the North American (23-under) roster and center Matt Duchene is a finalist for Canada. Defensemen Tyson Barrie (Canada) and Erik Johnson (United States) also might be selected to represent their countries.

Landeskog has skated for Sweden at virtually every type of international tournament, including the World Championship (twice) and Olympics (2014).
