Gabe Landeskog grateful not to be hurting as Avs' season begins

Playing through pain has been a typical way of life during hockey season for Gabe Landeskog.

But fortunately for the Avalanche captain, he has run out of wrists to fix.

Landeskog has undergone wrist surgery after the last two seasons — just days into his offseasons. It was his right wrist in 2014 and left wrist last spring.

Despite the injuries, Landeskog has played in 163 of a possible 164 regular-season games the past two seasons.

"Landy is a tough guy, and he's capable of playing with injuries," Avs coach Patrick Roy said.

Landeskog, 22, downplayed his high pain tolerance, saying "everyone" plays with nagging injuries during the second half of an NHL season.
