Florida Panthers winger Jaromir Jagr entered Friday’s game against the Avalanche with 1,884 career points and in third place on the all-time NHL scoring list, only three behind Mark Messier. The record held by Wayne Gretzky (2,857) seems untouchable.
Jagr and the Avalanche’s head coach are both 44 years old.
In fact, Avalanche coach Jared Bednar, born on Feb. 28, 1972, is 13 days younger than Jagr.
Jagr (755) and the Avs’ Jarome Iginla (614) are the top two active career goal-scorers in the NHL.
“It is remarkable, there’s no question,” Bednar said after the Avalanche morning skate.
