Ericsson Globe: Home away from home for the Colorado Avalanche

For forty games this season, the Pepsi Center will be the home for the Colorado Avalanche. This season, thanks to their trip to Sweden, the Avs will be playing their other ‘home game’ at the Ericsson Globe arena in Stockholm.

It’s a pretty unique building and not something you would see in North America - especially not for a professional sports team. The Globe is the largest hemispherical building on the planet and is normally used as the home arena for Djurgårdens IF of the SHL.

There have been eight previous NHL regular season games played at The Globe, however, these will be the first since 2011.
