Eric Veilleux, who was the 2013-14 Quebec Major Junior Hockey League coach of the year, was named head coach Wednesday of the Avalanche’s American Hockey League affiliate San Antonio Rampage.
Veilleux, 44, was head coach of the Norfolk Admirals last season, leading the team to a 30-37-4-1 record. He replaces Dean Chynoweth. Randy Ladouceur will remain with the Rampage as an assistant coach.
“Eric is an experienced coach and is the right person to develop our players in San Antonio,” Avalanche assistant general manager Craig Billington said in a news release. “After an extensive interview process, we determined he was the best candidate based on his coaching background and expertise.
