After the second preseason game of 2015, the Colorado Avalanche announced that four more players were cut from the preseason roster — including Duncan Siemens. Selected 11th overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Siemens was thought to have all the tools to become a No. 1 defenseman in the NHL. Unfortunately, it hasn’t worked out that way. After the latest cut, it seems safe to assume that he never will work out that way.
The Avalanche took a bit of a gamble when they decided to use a pick that high on a physical defenseman.
