After four years coaching the Avalanche's AHL affiliates, Coach Dean has been fired.
On Tuesday, at 12:35 PM Mountain Time, San Antonio Rampage Head Coach Dean Chynoweth was relieved of his duties. Colorado's primary development affiliate finished last in the AHL's Pacific Division this season despite a torrid start, missing the playoffs for the fifth straight season.
Chynoweth was named head coach on July 26th, 2012, a year before the arrival of the current Joe Sakic-Patrick Roy regime. Many of the Avalanche's top prospects skipped the level entirely, but those who were assigned to the AHL often failed to develop, a more likely cause for dismissal than the team record.
