Edmonton captain Connor McDavid produced a hat trick Sunday and Ryan Strome broke a tie with 6:42 remaining to power the Oilers to a 4-2 victory at the Pepsi Center. McDavid's third goal was an empty-netter with 1:26 to play.
The triumph snapped Edmonton's six-game losing streak and put an end to Colorado's 10-game winning streak at home.
The Avs lost two defensemen to injury during the game. Rookie Anton Lindholm didn't come out for the third period and Erik Johnson suffered an apparent wrist injury midway through the third.
The Avs, who blew a 2-1 third-period lead, dropped to 24-2-2 when leading after two periods.
