DALLAS — Not even a mandatory five-day break can cool off the Avalanche.
In the rubber match of a five-game, regular-season series Saturday night — the Avalanche's first game since playing one week earlier — Colorado defeated the Dallas Stars 4-1 to extend its winning streak to six games.
The last time Colorado won six straight was March 23 to April 5, 2014.
Nathan MacKinnon gave the Avs a 2-1 lead 6:33 into the third period. He took a pass from rookie Alex Kerfoot in the neutral zone, carried into the Stars' end and used a defenseman as a screen in beating goalie Ben Bishop with a low shot.
