COLUMBUS, Ohio – A month ago, the Avalanche were mired in the midst of a power-play slump that ended as an eight-game stretch with one goal on 28 chances.
But the Avalanche entered Thursday’s game against the Blue Jackets with their power play surging. They had scored 10 times with a man advantage in 30 opportunities over the past eight games, and had posted a power-play goal in five consecutive games for the first time since Dec. 2015.
“We’re really aggressive,” center Nathan MacKinnon said. “We shoot a lot of pucks … and out of those scrambles we seem to find some seams, and lanes open up.
