NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Avalanche general manager Joe Sakic is unhappy with the NHL Department of Player Safety for not taking action concerning the hit Nashville's Ryan Johansen put on Colorado defenseman Tyson Barrie in Thursday's playoff Game 1.
Sakic believes Johansen's blind-side contact to Barrie's head was as bad or worse than the hit that got Los Angeles defenseman Drew Doughty suspended one game for a hit on Vegas' William Carrier on Wednesday in Game 1 of that series.
"You saw what happened to Doughty. There's got to be some consistency," Sakic said Friday from Bridgestone Arena during an optional Avalanche practice.
