With the preseason over and opening night on the horizon this Thursday, the Avalanche is looking to fine tune areas of weakness a year ago, one of which is faceoffs.
The Avs, who beat Dallas 6-5 Sunday in their preseason finale, finished last in the NHL last year with a paltry 44.2 percent win rate.
“We have to (improve),” head coach Jared Bednar. “Some of our young guys I think will improve in those areas. The fact of the matter is there’s a lot of really good centermen in our division and we still have to improve in that area, so we’ll keep working on it.
