The Colorado Avalanche are hosting the San Jose Sharks tonight in the second of a three-game home stand. Interestingly, the two teams haven’t faced each other in almost exactly a year — January 23, 2017 was their last game against each other. The Sharks won 5-2.
All time, the Avalanche have edged out the Sharks 51-45-7-5(ties). Last season, Colorado took the first game of their three-game series in the shootout, but San Jose won the other two.
The Sharks are coming off a 3-2 win over the NHL-worst Arizona Coyotes — the game went all the way to the shootout.
