The Avalanche closed out its rookie camp with a practice Monday morning at Family Sports Center, and assistant general manager Craig Billington afterward said that most of the 25 young players would move on to the full veteran training camp later in the week.
Veterans report for physicals Thursday and hit the ice Friday at Family Sports, before the Burgundy-White intrasquad game Sunday and the opening of the exhibition season at Minnesota Sept. 27. Three of the players at the Rookie Showcase and camp — defensemen Nikita Zadorov and Chris Bigras, and winger Mikko Rantanen — played a combined 62 games for Colorado last season.
