Tuesday morning, the Colorado Avalanche recalled Martin Kaut from the AHL Eagles. The move comes less than 12 hours after the team lost star winger Mikko Rantanen to a serious upper body injury.
Selected 16th overall in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft, Kaut has spent the last two seasons in Loveland playing for the Colorado Eagles. After a decent AHL rookie season - in which he put up 12 goals and 26 points - Kaut has had difficulty staying in the lineup this season.
The 20-year old has suffered through injuries but seems to be healthy and has been playing the best hockey of his young professional career.
