The NHL Department of Player Safety announced last night that Colorado Avalanche defenseman Tyson Barrie has been suspended for three games after a late hit against Anaheim Ducks defenseman Simon Despres in the second period of Friday’s game. Barrie will miss tonight’s game in Los Angeles and home games against Carolina (Wed, Oct 21) and Columbus (Sat, Oct 24).

So, the official call is charging and interference. Despres lost the puck along the boards before Barrie came in for a late hit.
