The Colorado Avalanche are once again participating in the annual Hockey Fights Cancer initiative. In its 17th year, Hockey Fights Cancer joins the NHL and the NHL Player’s Association in fundraising and awareness. In that time, the campaign has been responsible for raising over $15 million.
This year the campaign, which runs from October 19 to November 13, expects to raise $200,000 total. That money will be distributed as grants to local cancer organizations in all 30 NHL markets. Some of the money also gets distributed to national cancer organizations.
One organization that receives a grant is the Movember initiative.
