DENVER — The Avalanche received big plays from its three NHL All-Stars and a shootout-winning goal from Carl Soderberg on Wednesday night to defeat the Vancouver Canucks 3-2 at the Pepsi Center.
Center Nathan MacKinnon and winger Mikko Rantanen and Gabe Landeskog combined for two goals and three points in regulation, and Rantanen and Soderberg scored in a six-round shootout. MacKinnon and Rantanen scored before overtime, with Landeskog setting up the latter by forcing a turnover and dishing to Rantanen.
Semyon Varlamov stopped 5-of-6 shots in the shootout as Colorado improved to 2-12 when games go beyond regulation this season.
