Last season having signed defenseman Nick Holden to a contract extension seemed like a folly at times. (He’s under contract through the 2017-18 season with a $1.65 million cap hit.)
He looked bad at times. Last season he finished with a -11 on the plus/minus ratio. He also finished the season with a -10 turnover rate. It was a tough season for Nick Holden.
About halfway through, head coach Patrick Roy partnered Holden with veteran defenseman Brad Stuart. Stuart gets a lot of criticism for being a, well, traffic cone at times.
