The Colorado Avalanche lost 4-1 to the New York Islanders. Semyon Varlamov made 17 saves on 20 shots for a .850 save percentage. Mikko Rantanen‘s point streak ended at 14 games.
I’m not going to focus too much on Varlamov’s night because that’s a subject for a whole post of its own. Instead, I’m going to focus on what could have spared the night, if it were there. And, obviously, it wasn’t or we’d be writing about an Avs win.
