The Colorado Avalanche were looking to bolster their blueline. In July they signed defensemen Fedor Tyutin to a one-year deal. So now its time to get know one of the newest players.
The last two years of Tyutin’s contract were bought out by the Columbus Blue Jackets, making him an unrestricted free agent. This left him free to sign with Colorado. He scored one goal and three points in 61 games last season.
Tyutin could be used in a shutdown role for the Avalanche. He has good size, positioning and hockey sense. He’s also very adept at blocking shots, which was a requisite for the Avalanche defense last season.
