It’s been a rougher stretch of road for the Colorado Avalanche since the midpoint of December. The Avs return home after a couple tough outings in the Burroughs of New York, having lost to both New York’s Rangers and Islanders to extend Colorado’s troublesome two-week record to 3-6-1 in the last 10.

The Avs open up a five-game home stand by welcoming a depleted, but always dangerous Pittsburgh Penguins club to The Can this evening.

Last time out, the Avs looked as if they had returned to their usual form, opening the scoring against the Rangers by tallying a couple quick markers within two minutes of each other to take a 2-0 lead just over six minutes into the game.
