Colorado Avalanche bring back Matt Nieto for two more years

Friday afternoon, the Colorado Avalanche announced that they have re-signed winger Matt Nieteo for two-years and $3.95 million. The contract carries a $1.975 million AAV, nearly twice the amount Nieto made last season. The signing means that the two sides will avoid arbitration and it leaves Patrik Nemeth as the only remaining unsigned RFA.

The Avalanche still have $14.7m in cap space for next season, so there is a lot of room to make another move if Joe Sakic feels the urge.

After being picked up on waivers from the San Jose Sharks in January of 2017, last season was Nieto’s first full year with the Avalanche.
