The Colorado Avalanche are in the playoffs. Let that sink in for a minute. The team that looked to be gunning in the Auston Matthews sweepstakes actually has a wild card berth as of last night’s Nashville Predators loss to the Arizona Coyotes.
Now, I know Colorado, the Predators and all the other Western Conference teams have about half the season left to play. In other words, anything can happen. However, if you’re not close to a playoff position by this point, we saw all too clearly last year that you’re not going to make it in.
So, the Colorado Avalanche has entered the playoff race officially.
