After saying that Reto Berra would start in goal at Florida Tuesday night, Avalanche coach Patrick Roy after practice Monday morning gave a lengthy and spirited defense of his team and quibbled with the perception that he is indulging in a bit of denial about what's happened in Colorado's 2-4-1 start.
"That was what we planned to do," Roy said of using Berra against the Panthers, meaning that would have been the case regardless of what happened against Columbus Saturday. And that turned out to be a horrific 4-3 loss to the previously winless Blue Jackets.
