ANAHEIM, Calif. — Sheldon Dries received a giant Southern California upgrade.
Following Colorado Eagles practice Thursday in Ontario, Calif., Dries took an important phone call, checked out of his modest team hotel, waited for the traffic to die down and then drove here to Anaheim, where he checked into the Avalanche’s five-star hotel.
His annual pro-rated salary suddenly rose from $395,000 to $735,000.
Dries replaced T.J. Tynan on the Avs’ roster, with Tynan flying here with the Avs and then reporting to the Eagles in Ontario.
“We are treated really well with the Eagles, but not quite five-star,” Dries told me Friday morning from Honda Center.
