Good first day at Avalanche headquarters Friday. Twenty-five rookies skated on one sheet and about 18 veterans on the other. Prized prospect Mikko Rantanen centered a line with A.J. Greer and J.C. Beaudin and played against the half-wall on the power play with defensemen Nikita Zadorov and Chris Bigras and forwards Greer and J.T. Compher. They’ll face the San Jose Sharks’ youngsters Saturday at the Ice Centre at the Promenade in Westminster. Game time: 2 p.m., and it’s free to the public (but seats are limited). The Avs’ rookies also play the Ducks in Westminster at 1 p.
