Peter Forsberg was the epitome of a hockey player. Highly skilled. Extremely tough. Fierce competitor. Great teammate.
So it was no surprise to see the Avalanche legend and 2014 Hockey Hall of Fame inductee win a National Hockey League Players’ Association poll, where more than 500 current NHL players were asked who their favorite player was growing up.
Forsberg won by collecting 8.4 percent of the votes. Former Detroit captain Steve Yzerman (8.2 percent) was second and former Avs captain and current general manager Joe Sakic (7.4 percent) was third.
Forsberg won because of his toughness.
